"HOW DOES THE CYCLE CREATE THE STYLES"
How does the cycle create the styles?
ReplyDeleteIn the homework for next class, I find the statements “The Ones are Ones because they Feel and Reflect more often. The Twos are Twos because they Reflect and Think more often. The Threes are Threes because they Think and Act more often. The Fours are Fours because they Feel and Act more often.”
The cycle creates the styles because the cycle highlights specific behaviors. We pay attention to what we value and the theory values feeling and thinking and reflecting and acting. Because we’re paying attention to those concepts, we see those concepts in people’s behavior. If the theory emphasized different things, the styles would be different.
I think the way we all learn is represented by the cycle. So no I do not think that the cycle creates the styles. I think styles are created along the cycle because we all have strengths and weaknesses as well as preferences and comfort zones. We all cop a squat somewhere along the cycle because it is our favorite, most comfortable place. It is where we feel the most energized, creative and authentic. It is a good starting place. It is our Super Power. But it is just the beginning and we must move on if we are going to truly learn and grow and stretch. Understanding the Cycle explains this experience in a meaningful way and gives us a visual representation of what is going on in our brain(mind) as we travel this cycle which we do over and over again (spiral).
ReplyDeleteWell after thinking about it again. Maybe! Lol It is sorta like the question...what comes first the chicken or the egg!
I'm convinced after taking this course numerous times that the cycles are created by putting it into daily practice. I feel as if you can apply a lot of the strategies in teaching by using the wheel. The key words help you to identify with the left and right brain. I'm working towards whole brain because I'm intentional about reaching each student. Learning about 4mat has increased my awareness that all teachers can be great.
